The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has been officially presented, and it is already among us. The range of Xiaomi maximum size phones has already made an appearance, and it raises an interesting question: What improvement compared to other times? Is the third time the charm?
I've tried the gestures of Android: goodbye to the buttons
This article was going to discuss how Android gestures have failed to make me fall in love. Ironically, I have to eat my words.
We will make a comparison as is customary in The Free Android, but being such a "special" phone and focused on such a specific audience, we will focus on your family brothers, the Mi Max from previous generations. Has it really improved?
The Mi Max 3 against his «younger» brothers
As always, we will start with a table that clearly illustrates the characteristics of each of the Xiaomi Mi Max launched so far. We already warn you that unlike what you can think, the improvements have not focused on the obvious, but on what characterizes the Max range.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 means a half-turn in the Max range. On the one hand, we have notable improvements, but on the other, Xiaomi is somewhat conservative and has limited itself to updating the major failures that past generations had, in addition to updating the design to modern standards.
Historically, the Mi Max have been nothing but lifelong Xiaomis stretched to the maximum possible. In the case of Max 3 it is exactly the same; we have the same design line as in devices such as Redmi Note 5 or Redmi 5 Plus but taken to the monstrous figure of the 6.9 inches diagonal screen. A real barbarity.
Ironically, it does not mean a huge increase over past generations, both in design and size. We have reduced frames, and that makes the screen "contain" a bit. Otherwise we have the same metallic finish, saving the double chamber placed vertically and the rounded frames. For the rest it is a Mi Max that is not too far from the past, even being sober.
Everything becomes "max" big
Let's not fool ourselves, the Max have always been ridiculously huge phones: not counting the frames the Mi Max 2 had a size of 6.4 inches Just like the original generation. Come on, that with the dimensions these Mi Max have always been small tablets. In the case of the Max 3 we not only increase on screen, but also on hardware.
We go up to 6.9 inch screen, being an almost indecent size. As for the battery we have the increase that we have seen in other generations, as we have seen from the 4850 mAh of the original Max to the 5300 of the Max 2. Now, we go up up to 5500 mAh, with fast charge. Another thing no, but NOBODY You can complain about the autonomy of the Mi Max 3.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 3, Mi A2, Mi 8, POCOPHONE F1 and more products come to Europe
The certifications of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3, Mi A2, Mi 8, POCOPHONE F1 and more products of this brand, which reach Europe have been filtered.
The memories have also gone in crescendo. We go from 2 and 3 GB of RAM to start from 4 GB up to 6 GB, and in the internal memory we forget the classic 16 and 32 that we saw in the original Max to upload up to 64 and 128 GB. It is an improvement that was necessary, although inevitable.
It is in the cameras where we see the greatest upgrade As with tablets, the cameras of the Mi Max have been testimonial, with a quality more than nimia and typical of a device of medium-low range. Now we have a double camera that seeing how the double sensors of other models are behaving, we hope that the quality of the shots of the Mi Max 3 is the less the better. If not, it would be a problem.
What happens in the rest, Xiaomi?
We found the less curious the evolution of other hardware components. We could expect that given the size of the phone and that we are already in the third generation, the remaining hardware such as connectivity or the processor were better. Here… We see something weird.
The first Max was riding a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650, a very solvent processor and according to the screen size. The second hit a small downgrade, staying in a Snapdragon 625. It is logical if we want to cut costs, but seeing the success that Xiaomi has had with all its products, we would expect a Snapdragon 660 at least. We stayed in a Snapdragon 636, something strange.
The same we see in terms of connectivity. We go to USB-C obviously, but otherwise We have exactly the same connectivity as in previous generations. We don't have NFC, and although we have Android 8.0 with MIUI 10, It is something we expected, since going out with Android 7 would have been a negative point on your part.
Although this Mi Max 3 has turned out to be a phone that we could all expect, perhaps Xiaomi has gone from conservative. Being the Mi MIX somewhat stagnant because its concept has blurred and seeing the strange evolution curve of the Max, perhaps we hoped that Xiaomi had launched into the pool with this Mi Max 3 with something more virulence.
However, this does not make it worse phone. It is a very specific mobile, suitable only for lovers of huge large screens. But for the cost that has characterized the Max and especially this Max 3, we get a great battery, a great terminal and a great value for money. As expected, everything is great in the Max.
