One of the most anticipated phones of the year has already made an appearance: the Xiaomi Mi A2. The second generation of last year's super sales has come to stay with its Lite version, and promises to be a real candy for those who seek Xiaomi's reliability with the purity of Android One inside.
And it arrives in Spain, a land where the middle range predominates. We have faced A2 against its rivals in our country: the BQ Aquaris X2, the Huawei P20 Lite and the Nokia 6.1. Nor is the obvious comparison between the Mi A2 and A1, which we will also see next.
Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite: features, price, photos, opinions …
After all the leaks and news Xiaomi has made official its two new international Android One: the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite.
Let's start with the obvious: what has changed?
Let's go to the chicha of the matter: what has improved with respect to the famous Xiaomi Mi A1? We already anticipate that the second generation device has substantially improved various issues, and that ironically much of the A1 hardware has become part of the A2 Lite hardware:

The truth is that we see a very noticeable improvement, which has a direct impact on the price. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 remains in the Lite version, but in return it goes up to 4000 mAh battery and we have better screen frames. The A2 Lite is very similar in terms of specifications to the A1, and this should serve as a reference.
It is in A2 where we see clear differences. To start, we hit a huge high in terms of power: we start with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, a very powerful chip and very close to the high range that even surpasses some of Qualcomm's most emblematic 800 range processors, such as the 820.
It improves on everything else. We have much better screen frames than in the previous generation, and better memory configurations (with more variety). We reached 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, making this device a Mr. phone for all those looking for quality hardware.
Of course, the MI A2 Lite maintains the microSD while the normal Mi A2 loses it.
Of course, we see that we have fallen short on several things. For starters, the battery has decreased to 3080 mAh in the standard version, while in the Lite we have a huge 4000 battery. And we expected that there would be NFC, but it has not been. Moreover, they give us Bluetooth 5.0 and we lose the jack in the top model, having it in the Lite. The double camera is still valid, and it will be difficult to improve the A1 generation, as it stood out for a good photographic result.
For the rest, we still have Android One, the main reason for buying this phone. The question is whether Xiaomi will have learned from the mistakes, since we all remember the problems with the Mi A1 and its updates. Will the users of this phone go through that same ordeal? It remains to give a vote of confidence to Xiaomi. By the way, detail: we still have metallic design and The A2 Lite has notch.
And what about the mid-range in Spain?
In this comparison we will forget Xiaomi and compare the A2 with the main devices that will support the mid-range in Spain. The devices chosen are the Nokia 6.1, the BQ Aquaris X2 and the Huawei P20 Lite, which each stand out in their field and represent the main mid-range phones in our market.

We must clarify that these devices have been chosen not because they are the best option, but because they represent the different scenarios of the mid-range that will have to face the Mi A2 in Spain: super sales devices (the P20 Lite), good phones but somewhat more expensive (Aquaris X2) and phones more focused on a conservative audience (the Nokia 6.1).
It must be said: the Mi A2 moves in a strange intersection between the difficulty of succeeding with a higher price than the previous generation and the ease of the name, since many will buy the A2 for the successful concept that accompanied the first generation.
In terms of design, the A2 is somewhat relegated against the X2, which stands out powerfully against its rivals. For the rest, everyone uses metal, the P20 Lite being the most similar to the Xiaomi phone. It is the Nokia 6.1 that is somewhat more stagnant, because it still has considerable frames and especially has a less finished premium That the others.
The same goes for the hardware, although here Xiaomi is clearly above: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 is much more powerful than the 636 and 630 of the X2 and Nokia 6.1, and especially of the Kirin 659 of Huawei, which although it is not a Bad processor, it has been found that it does not have the power standards enjoyed by others with Qualcomm.
Perhaps the general conclusion is based on the price: Xiaomi in our country has established a price somewhat more in line with the value for money that is promoted by these lands. It is more expensive, but puts it in its highest version at the height of the P20 Lite or the X2 in its Pro version. And the case is that it does not stand out for Android One anymore, since except for Huawei, both BQ and Nokia do incorporate.
The key to the success of this Mi A2 will be its price reduction depending on the reception it has. If your cost is reduced with the hardware you have, you will not only be clearly above the rivals mentioned, but which will far exceed the general midrange of this country. Will you get it? We will be waiting.
