LG G8 vs. Galaxy S10: What is the best Android phone in 2019?

The LG G8 ThinQ arrives with new magic tricks to try to beat the Galaxy S10.

Angela Lang / CNET

LG G8 ThinQ or Samsung Galaxy S10? It is not such a simple answer, but the first thing you probably have to keep in mind first is which of the two brands you prefer, be it by reputation, custom Android interface or some specific function that you enjoy or need more.

The two phones are very complete when integrating the same Snapdragon 855 processor, a 6.1-inch OLED display, traditional headphone jack, IP68 water resistance, microSD card slot and very similar batteries.

However, the LG G8 ThinQ integrates 6GB of RAM instead of 8GB of RAM like the Galaxy S10, but the G8 integrates a 3,500mAh battery instead of 3,400mAh.

In design, the Galaxy S10 looks more elegant, has a reversible charge, fingerprint reader on screen (if you want to try it because this aspect does not mean that it is better than the G8) and has three rear cameras that not only offer the same combination of regular camera with wide angle as LG has done for years, but also has a telephoto that allows 2X optical zoom.

That wide-angle lens was the main feature that differentiated LG from others and this year has more trouble distinguishing itself.

As positive points, the G8 has a high-fidelity sound amplifier that makes what you hear through headphones sound better, its screen reproduces sound (but is not necessarily better than the double speaker of the S10) and has a faster fast charge to Samsung (Quick Charge 2.0 instead of Quick Charge 3.0).

In addition, the LG G8 integrates better facial recognition (3D vs. 2D) and allows you to control different functions by moving your hand in front of it, just as it can scan the veins of your hand as a method of authentication.

Also, the LG G8 allows not only to take photos with blurred background like many other cell phones, but you can also record video with the same effect bokeh.

Here we compile the main differences in size, specifications and other features of the LG G8 with the Galaxy S10.

However, keep in mind that there are two versions of the LG G8 and another version called G8s. You can learn more about what LG G8 offers here.
