Google is updating the design of all its applications to the latest Google Material design line. Now it is Google Calendar's turn, which opens a cleaner design, although with few changes in functionality.
Google Calendar 6.0 is updated, now with Google Material
Material Design has been the reference of design in Android in recent years. Since this design style was presented at the end of 2014 we have seen how Google has been improving this design line until this year. For 2018 Gooogle decided to present Google Material, an evolution of the classic material design.
How to be the new Material Design: Google Material is born
Google has rethought the increasingly older Material Design, and has given it a twist by making it even more yours: this is Google Material.
It is a design that we have already seen in many Google applications, since the great G is updating all its applications on Android one by one. Some examples are Google Maps, Google Fit or Google Photos, applications that are already updated to this design line.
The changes are merely aesthetic, but they show a cleaner use interface, in line with the rest of applications that have already adopted this type of design, in addition to using the new typography that Google found in the rest of new applications, also present on Android 9 Pie.
Something that catches our attention is that the application widget itself has not adapted to this new design line. Is Google setting aside widgets?
Google Calendar 6.0 has started its deployment of updates on Google Play since today, so you should receive this new design over the next few days. As always, Google Play is likely to tell you that there are no updates even if you are still in the old version.
If you want to try Google Calendar in its latest version, it is already available in APKMirror, a trusted website when downloading applications in securely verified APK format.
Hey Google, when are you going to upgrade Gmail to Google Material? Come now.
