Xiaomi has stepped on the accelerator and I want to become one of the three most important mobile brands in the world sooner rather than later. For this it has enhanced its international expansion but has also carried out other actions.
India is so important that Xiaomi and OPPO create brands just for this country
One of the largest smartphone markets in the world is in India, where Xiaomi and OPPO have created mobile brands just for this country.
In countries like India, their products are a success, or at least they are the Redmi, the mid-range and low-end terminals. More powerful smartphones such as the Xiaomi Mi 8 or the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S have more modest sales, so the firm has opted for a radical solution.
Pocophone is a new brand, sponsored by Xiaomi, to land in India, at least for now, with a new high-end terminal at a much lower price than what the company has accustomed us, and that is already striking.
Today the Little F1, the first device of the new company, which focuses on a specific section: performance, power, speed.

In the presentation of Poco F1 much emphasis has been placed on the fact that they wanted to focus on the power section, the need to focus on one of the key aspects of mobile phones. Without neglecting the screen or the camera, in Poco they are clear that for them not to have lag in the mobile, which is very fast and powerful, was key.
For this they have designed the mobile from scratch, thinking about how to achieve that without having to put a particularly high price, something they have criticized the competition.
The chosen processor is the Snapdragon 845, a chip that few mobiles use in India and that is globally restricted to the most expensive and powerful. But next to the CPU, they have highly praised the GPU, the graphics chip of this processor, the Adreno 630.
There will be three versions depending on internal storage, one with 64 GB another with 128 GB and another with 256 GB. The first two will use the same RAM, 6 GB, and the last 8 GB. And all will have micro SD up to 256 GB.
To avoid overheating, Poco F1 has a liquid cooling system on the processor, making it able to perform at high speeds without heating up.
Great battery for a high range
For Poco F1 they wanted to transfer the experience of autonomy of the Redmi, terminals that are already iconic in this regard. For this they have implemented a 4000 mAh battery, the same as others like the Huawei P20 Pro.
This battery has been quickly charged, specifically Qualcomm, QuickCharge 3.0.
A clear commitment to plastic
Although all the high-end mobiles of recent years have opted for metal and glass finishes. In Poco they have seen that most users end up using a case so they have opted for polycarbonate, a finish that is still plastic, but that will please many.
But for those who are not convinced about it, the Poco Fi Armored Edition has been created, a variant with Kevlar in its housing.
The audio jack is maintained and as expected, the USB C port is chosen.
Advanced infrared facial unlocking
Like the Xiaomi Mi 8, the new Poco F1 implements a large notch that houses the necessary elements to have a infrared facial unlocking system, similar to the one used by the iPhone X.
This allows you to unlock your mobile with your face even at night. Despite this, it has been decided to implement a fingerprint sensor in the rear area.
Double camera, no zoom
The commitment to the camera of this model is quite good, although it does not reach the level of the Mi 8 or Mi MIX 2S.
It has a main sensor of 12 Mpx with a pixel size of 1.4 microns and a secondary one of 5 Mpx that helps to improve the quality of the image and to be able to perform the portrait mode with a cut as successful as possible.
The approach is carried out with a Dual Pixel system that makes the images not move even in extreme situations. Also, the focus speed is really fast.
The software created has started from the one used in the Xiaomi Mi 8. They have enhanced artificial intelligence to be able to recognize 206 scenes from up to 25 different categories.
In the front area we have a single 20 Mpx sensor. Here too, artificial intelligence has been modified to enhance the use with portraits. However, up to 10 different scenes are detected.
MIUI for Poco
That Xiaomi is the creator of Poco shows in details like this. MIUI is the interface that this model will use, but personalized in three sections.
On the one hand there is a new launcher. This desktop has an application launcher, that is, a drawer where you can leave all the apps, as normally happens in Android. It can also be customized in an advanced way with icon packs from different developers. This launcher will be in the Google Play Store in beta on August 29.
There will also be improvements in the performance and how the system behaves when changing apps or gesturing.
Last but not least, in Poco they want to have very fast updates. It will come with Android 8.1 Oreo but it will be updated to Android 9 Pie before the end of the year. And yes, it is compatible with Project Treble.
Price and availability
Little has been very detailed with all the features of the terminal, but the strength of this model is the price, which is why it has been designed. The three variants will have the following prices:
- Little F1 with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of memory: 20 999 rupees (about 260 euros to change).
- Little F1 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory: 23 999 rupees (about 300 euros to change).
- Little F1 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of memory: 28 999 rupees (about 360 euros to change).
The model with Kevlar housing will be somewhat more expensive, being only available in the variant of 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.
- Little F1 Armored Edition with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of memory: Rs 29,999 (about 370 euros to change).
