Harmony was released in August, marking what some call the biggest boost of the Chinese tech giant to build its own software ecosystem for the Internet of Things era. The executive, in detail, said what we show below.
HarmonyOS (known as HongMeng in China) was recently launched under the concept of trouble that made the United States take it with its bleaching. After that, the company has launched a device that runs this operating system, which is the Honor Vision TV. Clearly, this operation is not ready to be implemented in smartphones at its current stage, which tells us that it still lacks development. However, when it is finally ready, it will also reach smartwatches and laptops.
In September, Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei was interviewed by Fortune magazine correspondents and now the transcript of that interview is available in the English language (originally Chinese). In the interview, the top Huawei official made a bold statement saying that his internally developed operating system, which as we know now, is HarmonyOS, could compete with major rivals such as Apple's iOS over a period of 2 years. Among other things, this is what he said:
“I think it will take less than two or three years. As I am part of the company's leadership, I need to be a little more conservative when talking about deadlines. Otherwise, you could end up putting too much pressure on our staff (…) We still hope to continue using google's operating system and remain committed to friendly cooperation with Google. We need to improve even more in terms of software. We are somewhat weak when it comes to a great software architecture ”
