Apple is already the owner of Intel mobile modems

Finally, the sale of most Intel smartphones modems by Apple has just been completed. The agreement announced in July is valued at 1,000 million dollars although apparently it is not enough to lessen the crisis that the chip company is going through.

The sale only includes the branch of smart phone modems, so Intel will continue to create modems for PCs, IoT devices and autonomous vehicles. For its part, Apple could create more components for its devices instead of using external companies.

Intel confirms that Qualcomm's anti-competitive patent tactics forced the sale of its smartphone mdems business to Apple. Company executives have been testifying about the claim in court as part of the FVT antitrust case against Qualcomm. According Reuters, a judge ruled against Qualcomm, but the company appealed.

Now that the agreement between Apple and the intel has been completed, the company is giving one more step in its mission to gain the independence of other companies, such as Samsung who even before Apple introduced chip A made the CPUs.
