This past January, during CES 2011, Asus presented some New products in the field of tablets, such as the Eee Pad Transformer, which we already talked about in The Free Android (see). But we could also see a new tablet concept that I am sure many will like: Eee Pad Slider.
The slider highlights for one reason mainly: its sliding keyboard, which you can hide at will. But Asus, which has entered the tablet market strongly and seems to want to make very good products available to consumers, does not offer us only this striking feature, its specifications will make the competition have to put the batteries:
- 10.1-inch screen, with a resolution of 1280 × 800, with IPS technology.
- Nvidia Tegra 2 processor.
- 1.2MP front camera and 5MP rear camera with LED flash.
- HDMI output
- MiniUSB ports
- Micro SD
- Memory: 512 MB or 1 GB, depending on the version.
- 16 or 32 GB of storage on SSDs, also depending on the version.
- Android 3.0
But how could it be otherwise, we also find some "buts" if we compare the Slider with some of its competitors, such as the Motorola Xoom and the RIM playbook. to get started will not offer possibility of 3G connection, a characteristic that the two competitors mentioned have. In addition, it will be the tablet with the largest dimensions (273 x 180 x 16.7 mm) and weight (886 grams), compared to the 249.1 x 167.8 x 12.9 and 730 grams of the Xoom, but especially with the enviable 400 grams of the Playbook, although you have to take into account It is a 7-inch tablet. It is also true, on the other hand, that nothing has to envy both the Xoom and the Playbook to the characteristics of the cameras that the Slider has, since they match or exceed them in image quality.
But, even so, as we said, its competitors must put the batteries, since it is a product with very good performance and, best of all, novel in some aspects. It is there that, apparently, Asus wants to make a difference with the rest of the manufacturers, and it is very likely that tablets that include keyboards of this type will soon begin to appear.
As for the price, it is estimated that it will be released by $ 500 the most basic model, and ones 800 the most powerful. Yes, still We will have to wait, since although in its presentation it was estimated that it would come out in mid-May, problems with production have delayed its departure, which is expected to be for the month of August, Asus Poland sources made public on their Facebook page. In spite of all this, many of us are waiting for its imminent departure, as it promises a good price.
Here are some videos so you can see a little better this new tablet concept. I hope you like it!
