PS4 Remote Play arrives for all Android

Last March, iPhone and iPad users were able to play PlayStation 4 remotely.

The function

It arrived five years later than in the Sony Xperia, which from the Xperia XZ3 had PS4 Remote Play available.

Now, Sony has announced the update 7.00 for this week of October, where among other novelties is the extension of the compatibility of PS4 Remote Play with any Android 5.0 mobile phone or higher.

Remote Play works

Through an application that is installed on the mobile and through which we can see on the mobile screen what would be showing on the console.

We can start the console, open a game and instead of playing it on TV through HDMI, we can have it on the mobile screen wirelessly.

Stop being exclusive to the iPhone and Sony

In order to play PS4 games on the mobile we will need to download the PS4 Remote Play application, which is available on Google Play.

Currently it is only available for Xperia phones, hence it comes out as not compatible, but Sony has announced that this week it will be updated and that is when it should be installed on any Android phone or tablet, regardless of the brand.

Of course, provided you have Android 5.0 Lollipop or higher, a version that already has more than five years. If your mobile is relatively recent, you should not have any problems.

The system

It will also allow the DualShock 4 to be used with the mobile, in addition to the use of the touch buttons.

Its operation is similar to what we had years ago with PlayStation Vita and recommend connecting via LAN for a better experience. Of course, for the addition of DualShock 4 we will need to upgrade to Android 10, iOS 13, iPadOS 13 or macOS Catalina.

For iOS users, PS4 Remote Play has also been updated and will allow you to display the control on the screen at all times, as well as lock the screen orientation.

The update

PlayStation 4 7.00 also includes news for game groups. Now we will have up to 16 players and the connection and audio stability has been improved. In the United States, a new accessibility system for people with hearing and speech problems has been added.
