OPPO Reno2, OPPO Reno2 Z and OPPO Reno2 F, characteristics, price and technical sheet

OPPO returns to the load and renews its catalog of Reno series smartphones. Last year, the company surprised with the launch of OPPO Reno, OPPO Reno Z and Reno 10x Zoom and its peculiar upper fin mechanism, the first being a mid-range device and the second its flagship. Now OPPO Reno has not one, but three brothers very similar to each other but with their differences. We talk about the OPPO Reno2, OPPO Reno2 Z and OPPO Reno2 F. In Spain, the Reno2 and Reno2 Z models will be sold.

Alone OPPO Reno2 collects the witness of the fin mechanism of its predecessor. The rest opt ??for a pop-up system that hides the internal camera in a module that is deployed from the top frame. Same size, technology and screen resolution for everyone and the same number of rear lenses, so the differences will be found in the engine and in the functions available for photography.

Brothers in design and screen, but with differences

Oppo Reno 2 Series Screen From left to right: OPPO Reno2, OPPO Reno2 Z and OPPO Reno2 F.

In strictly aesthetic terms, the three devices are very similar. Everyone drinks from the original Reno OPPO design and incoporan four lenses in the back with the LED flash on the right and the text "Designed for Reno" along the vertical axis of the terminal. However, it is striking that the OPPO Reno2 boasts a hybrid zoom, although we will talk about it in its corresponding section.

Reviewing the songs, at the bottom we have the microUSB port (not USB type C) and in the upper part the modules of the upper chamber. Here we have differences, since the OPPO Reno has that peculiar fin mechanism while its two brothers Z and F have a V-style NEX or Huawei P Smart Z pop-up, only centered instead of on the side.

All three models feature a 6.55-inch AMOLED display

Turning to the screen, the three devices share size and resolution. We are facing a 6.55 inch AMOLED panel with FullHD + resolution which stretches in all directions to, according to OPPO data, exceed 90% occupancy of the front. However, the OPPO Reno2, which is the main model, has something brighter with its 500 nits and a slightly longer format; 20: 9 for a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. The three terminals have a fingerprint reader under the screen.

Different engines, but none skimp on RAM

Oppo Reno 2 Series From left to right: OPPO Reno2, OPPO Reno2 Z and OPPO Reno 2F.

If we take a look inside the devices we will find 8 GB of RAM in all of them, but different processors. The OPPO Reno2 is committed to the Snapdragon 730 Gaming, a newly launched eight-core SoC Kyro 470 and Adreno 618 GPU overclocked 25% It is a processor designed for video games and incorporates technologies such as WiFi Latency Manager and Jank Reducer, both designed to improve the connection.

The OPPO Reno2 Z, meanwhile, opts for MediaTek and its Helio P90, a SoC at the end of the year with eight cores made of 12 nanometers capable of running up to 2.2 GHz. Next to it, the IMG PowerVR GM 9446 GPU. The Reno 2F keeps the Helio P70, something less powerful than the Helio P90 also manufactured in 12 nanometers and with eight cores at a maximum speed of 2.1 GHz.

Only the OPPO Reno2 has a Qualcomm processor, the other two bet on MediaTek

As for internal storage, the OPPO Reno2 keeps 256 GB, the OPPO Reno 2Z with 128 and 256 GB and the OPPO Reno 2F with 128 GB expandable with microSD cards. All of them have Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6.1, an operating system that gives life to a stack of 4,000 mAh with fast charging VOOC Flash Charge 3.0.

To put an end to this section, comment that the three models are dual Nano SIM, have GPS and WiFi ac. Those, Only OPPO Reno2 has NFC and Bluetooth 5.1. The OPPO Reno 2Z lacks NFC and has Bluetooth 5.0 and the OPPO Reno 2F lowers the version to Bluetooth 4.2.

Four cameras for everyone, but not the same functions

Cameras

We finish with the photographic section, where OPPO has done a lot of emphasis and where we find different fundamentals. The three OPPO Reno2 have a 48 megapixel main sensor, but only the OPPO Reno 2 and Reno2 Z boast to mount the Sony IMX586.

There are significant differences in their lenses, since OPPO Reno2 has a telephoto capable of hybrid zooming of five magnifications and digital zoom of up to 20 magnifications. Their two squires lack telephoto and, instead, bet on a ToF to support in the taking of portraits. All have a 16 megapixel front camera. In the following table you have a summary of the sensors:

And we decay before they have different functions, and is that the OPPO Reno 2 has hybrid zoom x5, "Ultra Dark Mode" (for night photos), "Ultra Steady Video" (video stabilization) and video bokeh effect. The OPPO Reno2 Z drops the hybrid zoom and the OPPO Reno2 F is left alone with the mode designed for night photos.
