The Red Dead community on Reddit is compiling a list of PC startup problems with some troubleshooting tips from community sources, including deactivating your antivirus. GameSpot has not yet verified the effectiveness of the methods suggested in Reddit, and will recommend that players also check the official Rockstar Games support site, especially the configuration of the page for the error "came out unexpectedly." Rockstar recommends that players who have problems with Red Dead 2 on PC try to run the game as an administrator or update their graphics drivers.
Other launch issues that players have reported on Reddit include audio issues, issues with the Rockstar Games Launcher and FPS drops. For FPS falls, the Red Dead community in Reddit suggests changing the Vulkan graphics API to DirectX12 for Nvidia users, but many in the comments warn that this does not work. GameSpot recommends proceeding with caution and waiting for the official Rockstar support line to address the problem.
