There are more and more brands in the smart watch market, and now it is Honor's turn again. After not reaching the expected success with his Honor Magic Watch, the Chinese company, subsidiary of Huawei, launch a new watch that could arrive in a couple of weeks, allegedly to take advantage of the shopping season end of the year.
Although there is no official public announcement, the company has already started suggesting for weeks the launch of a new product through its social networks, even using thematic images and the silhouette of a product similar to a clock, to let us know that something Special come in the near future.
But these are not just speculations. Honor confirmed to Digital Trends that the new product is in fact a smart watch, and that it will be launched before the end of the year. The device is a follow-up to the Honor Magic Watch, a smart watch released early in the year that didn't turn out to be so popular, but that is quite impressive. However, while we have the information on when we will see the new Honor clock, there are still many things we do not know.
The tracks Honor gave show the outline of a smart watch, which closely resembles the original design of the previous Magic Watch. There is no indication of the name of the product, but it will probably be called Honor Magic Watch 2. The image shows the watch with two buttons on the side, located on the top and bottom of the device body.
Not only is it similar to Magic Watch, but it is also very similar to the Huawei Watch GT 2, the Mobvoi Ticwatch C2, the new Moto 360 and, to some extent, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2. It is a visually common design, but the Comfort improvements are generally welcome and do not seem to have a central crown that is often annoying in the grimace.
For the first Magic Watch, Honor made the decision to use a 1.2-inch screen, so it is considerably more portable than watches with a 1.4-inch screen. For its part, for the Watch GT 2, Huawei produced two models, one 42 mm with a 1.2-inch screen and a 46 mm version with a 1.4-inch screen. Honor may do the same, or opt for only the smallest size to fit all faces. As for the software, Honor is likely to use the same as Huawei included in the Watch GT 2.
The president of Honor, George Zhao, previously told Digital Trends that there will be “more portable products than ever in Honor in 2020”, and he also told us that a new smart watch will arrive before the end of the year. It is likely that he referred to this mysterious watch as part of a greater boost to portable devices and connected products by Honor and Huawei.
