Director Neil Druckmann says that more time is needed for that "Naughty Dog quality."
After a report on Naughty Dog's recently emerged The last of us part 2 Delayed to spring 2019, Sony has officially confirmed the same. The PS4 exclusive will now be launched on May 29, 2020. That is a little more than three months after its original release on February 21, 2020.
According to director Neil Druckmann on the PlayStation blog, the delay comes at an odd moment. After all, the game was recently seen and dated a month ago. "However, it was during the last few weeks, when we were closing sections of the game, that we realized that we simply did not have enough time to bring the whole game to a polishing level that we would call Naughty Dog quality." At this point, we face two options: engage parts of the game or get more time. We went with this last one, and this new release date allows us to finish everything at our level of satisfaction and at the same time reduce the stress on the team.
"While we are relieved that we will not have to compromise our vision, we are disappointed that we could not avoid this exact situation." We wish we had anticipated the amount of enamel we needed, but the size and scope of this game exceeded us. We hate to disappoint our fans and that is why we are sorry. "Druckmann thanked the fans for their" patience and continued support. "
Such delays are nothing new to the Naughty Dog team. Uncharted 4: The end of a thief They were delayed several times due to changes in the development team that saw Amy Hennig leave the company. There does not seem to be multiple delays with The Last of Us Part 2, so we cross our fingers to arrive in May.
The last of us part 2 It is a fairly ambitious game for study, and is approximately 50 percent larger than its predecessor. The focus on the campaign is one of the reasons why multiplayer mode is not available at launch.
