A death announced? RED holographic phones disappear

hydrogen project red one 2 768x768 disappears

There are projects that, much to our regret (or not so much), just as they come, they leave. Well, that has happened to Hydrogen Project. Maybe the name does not sound too much and we do not blame you for it, but we talk about RED phones with holographic screen. Now does it sound a little more?

The reason these phones disappear is that their founder, Jim Jannard, has chosen to leave the company. And, with its progress, the project in which these telephones with holographic screen were framed also comes to an end.

I've spent the last 45 years building inventions wrapped in art. But, after turning 70 and having some health problems, it's time for me to retire. Close the Hydrogen Project, finishing a career that includes Oakley, RED Digital Cinema and Hydrogen. I am very proud to have worked with many excellent people throughout these years. RED Digital Cinema continue stronger than ever with Jarred, Tommy and Jamin in command. Komodo is about to be launched … and the Hydrogen One will continue to receive support in the future. I want to thank everyone for the support I have felt throughout these years …

However, the truth is that the company did not sell many devices of this type, so it is not a great loss either to Jannard or to the technological world in general.

Specifically, the RED Hydrogen One phone offered a 5.7-inch screen with 3D experience and 2,560 x 1,440 pixels of resolution. Come with Android and a sensor on the front and rear camera, Qualcomm 835 processor and a 4,500 mAh battery. It was announced in 2017, but it was not launched in the US and Mexico until the summer of 2018 for a price of around $ 1,300 dollars, although the first units actually arrived at the hands of their owners already in the same year.

Given the limited success of this first device, and against all odds, it was implied that the company was preparing a second installment, the Hydrogen Two. However, this new project, unfortunately, now falls in broken sack, given the situation of the company.

But if you were one of the users who acquired the first version, maybe you feel a little better and somewhat more relieved after knowing that the firm ensures that you will continue to receive support.
