Samsung Exynos 990

The Exynos 990 is a processor manufactured with the EUV 7 process nm like the Kirin 990 5G chipset from Huawei. The processor conforms dEight cores in a 2 + 2 + 4 tri-cluster CPU configuration. There are 2 fifth-generation custom CPU cores + 2 Cortex-A76 cores + 4 Cortex-A55 cores. Samsung maintains the clock speed of the cores as a mystery. However, it says that the performance of custom CPU cores has increased by 20% compared to its predecessor.

The new processor has a Mali-G77 MP11 GPU which replaces the Mali-G76 MP12 GPU of the Exynos 9820. The new GPU provides a improvement in performance and energy efficiency of up to 20% in comparison with its predecessor. With the new GPU, Samsung promises games without delays.

Dual NPU

The Exynos 990 also has a dual core NPU, an additional core more than the Exynos 9820 NPU. It also has a enhanced digital seal processor (DSP) It works in conjunction with the new NPU to get better experiences when it comes to camera performance, virtual assistant and extended reality. The SoC Supports up to six cameras with resolutions up to 108MP.

Other features

The Exynos 990 admits UFS 3.0 and UFS 2.1 storage, as well as RAM in LPDDR5 format. It's compatible with screen resolutions up to 4K UHD. Have a Exynos Modem 5123 for hyper fast 5G speeds. Samsung says the new modem supports download speeds of up to 7.35Gbps in mmWave and 5.1Gbps in a configuration below 6GHz with up to 8x carrier aggregation. The new modem that is also based on the 7 nm EUV process supports dual E-UTRA-NR (EN-DC) connectivity that "combines LTE and 5G connectivity to increase mobile download speed."

Samsung's recent processor Supports 8K UHD video decoding at 30 frames per second. It is also compatible with update frequencies up to 120Hz. The image is also enhanced by 10-bit video and screen support HDR.

Safety it has also been improved with a new integrated security element (iSE) layer It stores and manages personal data in a space separate from the operating system.

The Exynos 990 will be the heart of the next Samsung Galaxy S11 series devices.
