He MWC 2019 It will be remembered for being the beginning of a new trend in mobile technology: folding screens. The proposals of Huawei and Samsung have been the most relevant but not the only ones.
Nubia was waiting for the right moment to present its new experimental smartphone, the Nubia Alpha, of which we have spoken before but that until now has not been made public.
This model is characterized by having a form factor very different from what we are used to, having an elongated flexible screen designed to be placed on our wrist, like a watch.
Half watch, half smartphone
Nubia wanted to highlight the innovative nature of this phone by highlighting that its flexible screen places it in an intermediate path between a smartphone (oh that we can make calls or use it as a normal mobile) and a smartwatch, being able to wear it on the wrist.
The touch screen has been created by the company Visionox and has 4 inches of diagonal although having such an elongated ratio we cannot compare it with other mobiles of this diagonal.
We can measure our pulse, the quality of sleep or the steps we take, as we do in other wearables. But there are also differences with the clocks, as we appreciate in the frotnal, where we see a 5 Mpx camera that allows you to take photos, videos or video calls.
Use a processor Snapdragon Wear 2100, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, features closer to those of a smart watch than to those of a smartphone. Its battery is 500 mAh and has an autonomy of between one and two days. In addition to bluetooth and Wifi we have eSIM, which allows us not to need a physical SIM.
Below you have all the features of the Nubia Alpha:
- screen: 4.01 inch OLED flexible.
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100.
- RAM: 1 GB
- Storage: 8 GB
- Camera: 5 Mpx with opening f / 2.2.
- Drums: 500 mAh
- Android version modified and unspecified.
- Sensors and connections: WiFi, Bluetooth, accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, WiFi, Bluetooth, version with eSIM.
- Others: dust and water resistant, wireless charging, fast charging, different straps (including a gold plated).
Metal … and gold
This device is made of steel but there is a golden variant that uses an 18 karat gold plating, a material that we do not usually see in mobile phones.
The Nubia Apha will start at 449 euros. We do not know the release date.
