Last month, Xiaomi I presented the new version of your custom layer on Android: MIUI 11. While reviewing your source code, a member of the XDA Developers team discovered the keyword "Tele 5X" and the keyword "ultra tele", which is accompanied by a description “Use the 50X zoom to capture distant objects in greater detail". These findings suggest that Xiaomi is developing a smartphone with 5X optical zoom and 50X digital zoom. This will make it the third Chinese company to achieve after Huawei and OPPO.

Xiaomi with 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom

Earlier this year, Huawei launched the P30 Pro focused on the photo, which is the first phone that supports 5X optical zoom and 50X digital zoom. The device can reach this remarkable zoom level with the help of a periscope chamber module. Shortly after its launch, Oppo also presented the Reno 10x that is equipped with a similar periscope camera sensor and also supports 5X optical zoom and 50X digital zoom.

OPPO Reno 10X and Huawei P30 Pro

Returning to the source code of MIUI 11, it was previously revealed that Xiaomi is working on a device that can capture videos in 8K at 30fps. Supposedly, this is the same device as admitting the notables mentioned above.

Unfortunately, any detail, except for the existence of said Xiaomi smart phone, is not currently available. Thus, It is difficult to know if Xiaomi also implements the periscope module in its terminal or if it presents its own technology. However, you can incorporate the Samsung MHX 108 MP sensor found in the Mi MIX Alpha. The extremely high resolution of this sensor will preserve details even with 8X digital zoom.

120Hz screen

The source code of MIUI 11 has also revealed that Xiaomi is developing a phone that offers an update frequency of 120 Hz on its screen. Under this paragraph a couple of screenshots of it are attached. As of now, it cannot be confirmed if this phone is the same as with the 5X telephoto zoom. However, considering that these two features will first be seen in a high-end device, they are likely to be for the same device.

Compared to a 60 Hz frequency display seen in most modern phones, a telephone with an update frequency of 90 Hz or 120 Hz provides a much more fluid viewing experience. Users who have used high frequency panels report a slow experience when they return to the standard panels.

Some phones equipped with these screens are the Asus ROG Phone 2, OnePlus 7 Pro or the OnePlus 7T / Pro. The future Google Pixel 4 and Realme XT Pro will also have a 90 Hz screen. It should be noted that, of all the devices listed above, the only phone with 120 Hz update frequency is the ROG Phone 2.
