As you well know, Xiaomi yesterday launched a full-fledged challenge to Samsung with the launch of its new range of phablets.
In this case we are going to compare the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro. It is true that there is a slightly “lower” version, but as good lovers of technology, we always look at the best specifications apriori.
That the terminal of the Korean manufacturer was one of the best (if not the best) of the past year is a fact that does not surprise anyone, and for many it will remain for at least another half year or more. But Xiaomi has hit the table to face the Samsung terminal with the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro.
The Sansung Galaxy Note 4 is already a great acquaintance for all of you, if not, you can not miss the video we made at the IFA in Berlin last September in which we analyze it:
As you can see, Samsung set the bar very high so that its star terminal of 2014 was not only a reference terminal for the company itself, but that it was for the entire Android universe for at least the first half of this 2015.
Rumors have been running for a few days that put a hypothetical in a very good position smartphone of Xiaomi at the top, rubbing shoulders with the greats as they did the star terminal of this company last year, the mi4. But the Chinese manufacturer has other plans and has surprised us all launching into the competitive market of phablets, and does it all out.
So you can get an idea of the characteristics of both terminals, take a look at the following table:
|Name||My Note Pro||Galaxy Note 4|
|Dimensions||155 × 77.1 × 6.95 mm||153.5 × 78.6 × 8.5mm|
|Weight||161 grs.||176 grs.|
|Processor||Snapdragon 810||Snapdragon 805|
|screen||5.7 ″ 2K resolution||5.7 ″ 2K resolution|
|Storage||64 GB||32/64 GB + microSD|
|Cameras||13 and 4 MP||16 and 3.7 MP|
|Battery||3,090 mAh||3,220 mAh|
|Price||450 approx.||From 660 approx.|
We know that all these data can leave you very cold, since for many they say nothing. In ProAndroid we want to give you everything "mascadito", so let's analyze each aspect separately:
Have you ever heard that "for tastes … colors"? There is no objective reason to decide on a design (if we do not care about the small differences in weight and measurements between both terminals).
Samsung bets on the Continuous design of the latest designs of the Galaxy S range and that so many benefits has brought them. Fingerprint reader and heart rate meter may be something that is used more or less, but there they are.
On the other hand, the best way to define the design of the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro will be to say that it is a mix of a Galaxy Note 4 and an iPhone 5S(did not give them time to "notice" the iPhone 6?). Yes, we know that it is difficult to explain, but it is what almost everyone who has seen the images of the terminal thinks. Judge yourselves!
Processor and RAM
The great asset of Xiaomi is inside the Mi Note Pro. The 64 processor bits from4 ARM Cortex-A57 at 2 GHz ms 4 ARM Cortex-A53 at 1.5 GHz or more known as theQualcomm Snapdragon 810 and 4 GB of RAM, is far superior to Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 and 3 GB of RAM that mounts the Galaxy Note 4 Samsung, always talking about the paper as you have to thoroughly test both terminals to get an idea of what both terminals are capable of.
Same screen and same resolution … What is the difference? Surely many ask you that question and to answer it you have to focus on the type of screen offered by each terminal.
IPS versus Super Amoled, the eternal battle is present in this particular confrontation. I don't want to get into which one is better and which worse, since we have to assess what each user wants in the interpretation of the colors offered by each type of panel.
A value that if quantifiable is the measurement of the pixels per inch (ppi) offered by each terminal: 515 ppi of the Xiaomi compared to the 534 ppi of the Samsung. A minimal difference and more if we consider that many studies ensure that the human eye does not appreciate differences in more than 300 ppi.
One of the few things that can be criticized for the Note Pro (that of Xiaomi) is that dont have slot for microSD cards. It is true that 64 GB may be more than enough space for the vast majority of potential users of this class of devices, but it never hurts to have this option.
For its part Samsung markets two versions with different capacity (32 and 64 GB) and both offer the possibility of expanding the storage via microSD by another 64 Gb, giving us up to 128 GB of total space, a not insignificant data.
Allow us to not develop this section, since The best way to make an assessment is by comparing 2 captures made with these terminals. We can wander eternally if we go into the vast field of photography and camera components (sensors, shutter speed, focal length, aperture, noise, etc … are things that more than one reader does not say much, and since I am not an expert on the subject, I do not want to offer false appreciations)
There is no possible "battle" here. Xiaomi does things well, and its pricing policy is undoubtedly the best. 450 is the estimated price for this phablet Chinese, more than 200 ms cheap than the most economical version of the Korean terminal. It is fair to say that construction materials may be different, but this difference is unjustifiable. If someone has something to add, please illustrate me.
Other featured items
In the small details is the difference. So we can summarize this section.
Once we have seen the general characteristics, we can see what these terminals can offer us to make a decision when buying or other.
From Xiaomi we can highlight 2 things:
- 4G / LTE connectivity cat. 9, which gives us a lowering speed of up to 450 Mbps (who will catch them! right?)
- MIUI, or what is the same, the operating system that is based on Android 4.4.4 but that looks like iOS 8.
- Dual SIM: can we use 2 mobile lines simultaneously (they could not have used that second SIM slot for a microSD?)
Samsung should also highlight things:
- Use of Stylus: A terminal with such a large screen can be used for many things, and if you have a physical tool to take advantage of it better than better.
- Use Android with customization layer, which suggests that although it depends on Samsnug, surely we can taste the delicious smudge of Android 5.0 before a terminal with MIUI.
Until we have the possibility to thoroughly test in a new Xiaomi terminal, this is the best comparison that we can offer if we rely exclusively on technical data.
Do you think that the new Xiaomi Mi Note Pro will banish the almighty Samsung Galaxy Note 4? No doubt that issue is decided by time, but we bet that we are facing one of the great technological battles of the year.
