Let's say you want Photoshop to make a mustache on your coworker's face, or make some adjustment to an image you found on-line, but you don't have access to Photoshop and all the mustaches you find have an annoying background. To remove the background and obtain a PNG file that allows you to isolate your image and save it without any background content follow these steps:
Step 1: Download and save the image on your computer.
Step 2: Go to the official Background Burner website.
Step 3: Click on the blue button Choose a Photo, in the lower right corner, or simply drag and drop the image into the dotted box next to it.
Step 4: Now, watch as the little dragon removes the background of your image. The tool does a fairly accurate job with basic backgrounds, but if you want to make additional changes, click on the Retouch button below the resulting image. Then, use the Mark Front and Mark Background tools to define the parts of the image you want to delete.
Step 5: Once the preview of the image on the right side of the page is correct, click on the green Start Session button to download. You must create a free account to download the resulting image, but doing so is easy, especially if you allow the site to access your Facebook or Google accounts.
Eliminating complex funds
Do you want to remove the background of a real photo? Don't worry: Background Burner can do it too. For this, simply follow the steps described above, but try to be a little more precise when marking your image. For example, the image below is quite good, but the background does not fit at all. We want to replace it with something a little more shocking.
To start removing the fund, follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 above, and let the dragon do his job. As you can see below, the tool's edge search algorithm did a decent job of finding the model, and gave us four options to choose from.
We chose the one that left most of the body intact, but left out the grill and several party goers. If you are satisfied with the initial results, simply click on the green button. If you are not, click on Retouch and better define the image. Using the first image as our scheme, we begin to paint green lines on the parts of the image we want to restore.
But, to be more precise, we need to expand and obtain more precision with our brands. You can change the size of the brush in the top menu, but we discover that it is much easier to expand it. Once you are close enough to see where the edge algorithm was lost, put a few green marks to encapsulate the part of the image you would like to keep. Once this is done, zoom out to see if the finished product looks good. Now, do the same with the red brush (also known as the Mark Background tool).
When you are satisfied with the result, click on Use in the lower right corner. Again, you will need to create a free account to download the resulting image, but as we told you before, doing so is easy if you allow the site to access your Facebook or Google accounts
Now we can add a new and more appropriate fund …
And ready! Keep in mind that there is also a professional version of Background Burner, specifically focused on e-commerce, if you need to eliminate image funds periodically or if you need access to more advanced tools.
Alternative: Clipping Magic
If you want to use a more detail-oriented option, this is the best alternative to Background Burner: Clipping Magic. Like the tool mentioned above, it uses a software Automated to detect edges: all you have to do is mark "Foreground" and "Background" with red and green strokes.
Clipping Magic also provides a useful live preview, which allows you to adjust the results on the fly. The web application offers basic options for shadow and color adjustments, along with other tools that allow you to better adjust the resulting image. This makes the software It is better for detailed projects, or those in which you want to have greater control over how your image will look.
Adobe Photoshop for experts
Photoshop is an amazing program with a huge amount of tools. The program offers a variety of different ways to eliminate funds from images. We will start with the easiest method, which works well if it is a neutral, solid or basic background.
Step 1: Open the image in Photoshop.
Step 2: Select the Magic Wand / Lasso tool, the last of which is ideal for customizing your selection.
Step 3: Click on the background and press the Delete button, which will make the background disappear.
Step 4: Save your new image as PNG.
To remove a more complex background in Photoshop, you will need to dig a little deeper into your tools. Photoshop is a program with practically all possible functions, and as such, it provides you with different ways to eliminate funds. Some of these methods require a deeper knowledge of the program, so for this tutorial we will review a rather simpler method:
Step 1: Open your photo in Photoshop.
Step 2: Select the tool Background eraser.
Step 3: Adjust the brush size to your liking and set the Continuous Sampling.
Step 4: Set the limits to mark the edges and adjust the tolerance. Lower is generally better, since with a higher configuration you will eliminate more colors. In general, a safe bet is to opt for a configuration in the 20-30 range.
Step 5: Hover over a bottom area that is close to your object. Now, just click, and it will be deleted.
Step 6: Continue this process until you have created a bottomless border around your target. Feel free to adjust the tolerance as necessary, where your image becomes lighter or darker around the edges.
Step 7: Once you have created a defined border around your object, switch to the Eraser tool and delete the rest of the background.
The Magic Wand and Lasso methods work very well, and many other photo editing programs have borrowed the look and feel of these tools. Therefore, even if you use a software free as Pixlr, or other tools featured in our article on the best free programs to edit photos, the knowledge of these will serve you a lot.
