We have developed this guide in which we explain how to block text messages on the phone, whether it is Android or iOS. And if you need it, we also have a guide that allows you to block calls and avoid any contact with that person you don't want to talk to anymore.
IOS message lock
Known contacts and phone numbers
Blocking texts on iOS is easy. For specific messages, touch the message of the contact you want to block, then touch Details, in the upper right corner. Again, in the upper right corner, touch the “i” cone to open the information page, then touch Block this person at the bottom of the page.
Another way is to go to Settings> Messages> Blocked and press Add new to add a new contact to block. With either method, you will not only block messages, but also your phone calls and FaceTime calls. It may seem radical, yes: but it saves you from having to resort to applications and the configuration of Phone and FaceTime to block the same person.
Numbers that appear as "unknown" or "private"
Unfortunately, you cannot block messages from unknown and private numbers in the same way.
However, you can filter them and separate them from the rest of the people you know and accept.
To do this, go to Settings> Messages and access the option Filter unknown senders. This will create a new tab in your Messages application called "Unknown senders", so you will not get notifications of these. It may not be ideal, but it is already something.
Another thing you can do is report spam and unwanted messages. So, when you receive a message from someone you don't know, you can select the "Report trash" link. In this way, by touching the link, you will resend the information and the message from the sender to Apple.
The company must deal with the contact and finally block that person.
In addition, you can also send an email to “Imessage.firstname.lastname@example.org”. Keep in mind, of course, that you will need a screenshot of the message, as well as the email address or phone number that sent the message, the date and time you received it.
It should also be remembered that Apple does not deal with SMS and MMS messages, but you can always report them to your operator.
Message blocking on Android
In a Google phone
There are two ways to block messages on a Google phone, such as Pixel 2. The first is to open the application Messenger, then open or start a conversation with one of your contacts. Access to Ms – represented by three vertical points – select People and optionsand touch To block.
You can also open the Messenger application, press and hold the conversation you want to block, select Block when the option appears in the upper right corner and click OK.
On a Samsung phone
As with a Google phone, Samsung phones have two ways to block messages. One method is to open Messages and then choose the conversation that contains the contact you want to block. From there, tap the Ms icon, select Block number and activate Message blocking. Then select OK.
You can also go to Messages> Ms> Settings. Tap on Block messages to select the checkbox and then in Block list. From here, manually enter the contact number and select the sign ‘+’, or choose within your inbox or contact list the person or contact you want to block. When you have entered all the numbers you want to block, touch the back arrow.
On an LG phone
LG's blocking process is quite fast and simple. Open the LG messenger application and press the SMS or MMS message you want to block. Then, touch the three dots that appear in the upper right corner and then select Block number to confirm your choice.
On an HTC phone
Like the LG blocking process, HTC's way to block unwanted messages is quick and easy. Opens Messages, then press and hold the desired text conversation until it appears Message Options. Then access Block contact.
Using your operator
Many mobile phone operators offer additional services and settings to help their clients block messages from specific numbers, such as those from telemarketers. T-Mobile has message blocking, Verizon offers the option of blocking calls and messages, Sprint requires the use of limits and permissions through My Sprint, and AT&T has intelligent limits.
Block texts with applications
In addition, there are dozens of applications that you can install on your Android or iOS device, if you want to block numbers and messages. Then we show you our favorites.
Should I Answer? (free)
Our favorite application for call blocking is Should I Answer? An active community shares information and opinions about the numbers and classifies them, so that when a message arrives, you can see if it comes from a legal number or not. You can block numbers easily, it works when not connected, and you can even block all numbers that are not in your contact list, if you wish. While this blocking application has access to your contacts, the developer has promised to only use them to verify them with incoming calls, and they will not be shared. Unfortunately, this application is not available for iPhones.
Hiya Caller ID and Block (free)
It is the successor of the popular Truemessenger application, and meets the same objective, allowing users to instantly recognize when a spam number is calling or sending messages, and automatically block it.
Its powerful call identification system also indicates unknown numbers that call you, so this is one of the best applications. Used by more than 250 million people, it can certainly be your blocking application. In addition, you can block email addresses.
If you are waging a war against spam, you may also want to check our guide to block a specific email address.
