At a tenth of the price that high-end phones have, Alcatel's bet is to position itself as a brand that offers products that, although with fewer benefits, are much more affordable. And this again was demonstrated with the Alcatel 3X and Alcatel 1V phones, which the subsidiary of the Chinese manufacturer TCL presented at the IFA 2019 technology fair in Berlin.
The main differences between the new equipment and others that triple or quadruple in value are related to its finish, processors and storage capacity. Even so, they remain phones that – at least in terms of specifications – promise satisfactory performance.
One of the biggest innovations offered by the Alcatel 3X and Alcatel 1V is that they will be equipped with a dedicated button to activate the Google Assistant, facilitating access to the different functions of this virtual assistant. "(This) allows our users to access the information they need just by touching with one finger," said Peter Lee, general manager of Global Sales and Marketing at TCL Communication.

The main product exhibited by the company during the technology fair in Berln was the Alcatel 3X, a mid-range device.
The equipment comes with an eight-core Mediatek MT6763 processor (four at a maximum speed of 2 Ghz and as many at 1.5GHz) and 4 GB in RAM. In terms of storage, it has a capacity of 64 GB, expandable to 128 GB with a MicroSD card.
A rear camera with three lenses (16 MP, 8 MP and 5 MP), which identifies different photo scenarios and optimizes the settings of your photographs. Its greater photographic capabilities are observed thanks to its super wide angle lens, which covers 102 degrees, and the real-time bokeh effect, which provides the ability to take artistic photos. In addition, night capture mode allows you to record clear, bright and detailed videos and images, even in dark environments. The 8 MP front camera and LED flash will allow you to take brighter selfies.
One of its main novelties is the button to activate the Google Assistant. With this, you can start applications, search for information, control smart devices, set reminders, send text messages, among other actions. In addition, it incorporates the Google Lens function, to find products online, learn about landmarks, and more.
The Alcatel 3X will be available in three colors – Jewelry Black, Jewelry Green and Jewelry Rose – at prices starting at 149 euros ($ 163 dollars). At the moment, there is no information about when to be available in the United States or the price, but we will keep you informed.

At prices starting at around $ 80 dollars, there is no doubt that the Alcatel 1V is a much more basic phone. It is equipped with an eight-core Spreadtrum processor (four at 1.6 GHz and the rest at 1.2 GHz) and has 1 GB of RAM. In addition, it offers 16 GB of storage, expandable to 128 GB with a MicroSD card.
Like the Alcatel 3X, it includes a dedicated button for quick access to Google Assistant. However, this device is only configured with Android 9.0 Pie (Go Edition), which offers smaller features of this operating system.
Among other features, the terminal has a 5.5-inch screen, which offers a resolution of 480 x 960 pixels, in addition to 5 MP rear and front cameras. Its 2,460 mAh battery will provide you with a five-hour autonomous with normal use and it takes more than 3.5 hours to fully recharge, according to manufacturer data.
The Alcatel 1V will be available from 79 euros ($ 86 dollars) in tones such as Anthracite Black, Metallic Blue, Metallic Gold and Metallic Rose. Like the Alcatel 3X, it is not yet confirmed when or at what price to reach the United States market.
