Google has decided to implement an important function in its Chrome OS operating system. And the last version of Chrome OS (58.0.3007.0) sent to developers allows you to unlock the Chromebook using a fingerprint reader.

The new function, called Quick Unlock or quick unlock, it can be enabled by typingchrome: // flags on a Chromebook. From there you can configure the function and then unlock the notebook by scanning the fingerprint, as long as your account is previously registered.

From the configuration tool, in the screen lock section, you will also have the possibility to configure the new function and you can register a maximum of 5 fingerprints.

Following in the footsteps of Android, iOS and Windows

The new quick unlock feature puts the Chrome OS operating system on the same line as iOS, Windows, Android and macOS. All of them have fingerprint unlock, although Apple's new MacBook Pro even has a Touch ID start button with biometric authentication.

At this time it is believed that Google is developing a Chromebook with a performance similar to that of the MacBook Pro.

The inclusion of fingerprint scanning in Chrome OS comes a few months after Google enabled PIN code unlocking in its Chromebooks.
