How to remove WhatsApp web notification from your mobile

WhatsApp is such an important service that it seemed illogical that its use be restricted to mobile terminals. Until recently we could not install it on tablets or use it on computers.

This changed with WhatsApp web, an access created by the developers of the platform to be able to use it from a web browser, but that had some drawbacks.

The biggest of them was that we had to have the session started on the mobile, so that only the computer was used as an access system to use it more comfortably, but not independently. But there was another inconvenience, more aesthetic than functional.

When we have opened the session on a computer on our mobile, a permanent notification appears that does not warn of it, and we cannot remove it by sliding to the side as in the other notifications.

How to remove notification from WhatsApp web

In order to remove this persistent notification, we must take some more steps, not complex ones, but not obvious unless we know how the notification channels work. It is important to note that this is possible on mobiles with Android 8.0 Oreo and higher versions.

To remove this notification we must:

  • Open the Settings application.
  • Go to Applications
  • Select WhatsApp.
  • Click on Notifications.
  • Uncheck the option Other notifications.

It is also possible to do it from the notification itself:

  • We slide to the right.
  • Click on the gear icon.
  • Uncheck the option Other notifications.

Notification channels allow you to block one type of notification and not another, so it is now possible to hide that without having problems with the chats or groups. However, since this notification is in the Other notifications section, it could be that some very particular system, some notice, will not reach us.

I have been using this configuration for months and I have not noticed any problem but if you see that some notifications do not reach you try again to activate the Other Notifications option.
