Google Fit is an application that is making a dent among users on Android. Thanks to this application, it is possible to keep track of the physical activity that is carried out at all times. It can therefore be a very useful application to use on Android, although many users do not take full advantage of the app.

Google Fit sets us activity goals, which in this case fall into two categories. The first is the Active Minutes, which is the time we have been doing some physical activity on that day. The other category is Cardio Points, which are obtained by performing activities that increase the heart rate. By default, comes the amount of points that can be achieved per day as a goal; but users can configure them to their liking, especially depending on the activity they carry out. People who do a lot of sport or move more than normal can set somewhat more demanding goals.

  • Open the application
  • Click on the Profile section.
  • There you have to go to the section called Activity Objectives.
  • Click on each objective to change the necessary points.

Google Fit records all activity that is carried out, as long as the phone (or a compatible wearable) is on top. There may be times when an activity was not saved because the mobile was not carried. In that case, the application always allows enter activities manually, such as walking, running or a huge amount of sports, which are not normally detected by default. You can add the time that this activity has been practiced and also the intensity of it. This makes it possible to keep track of everything that is done. The steps to follow are:

  • Open the application
  • On the main screen, press the + button.
  • Click on the option Add activity.
  • Fill in the activity data (type of activity, start and end time and intensity).
  • Click on Save (at the top).

In addition to the activities, the application also allows a record of the workouts. When a training takes place, Google Fit will register everything in a more intensive way. In advance it is possible to configure various aspects of this in the application, so that everything is prepared. Thus, if we go out to train with some frequency, we can have a record of the trainings carried out in a simple way. The steps that have to be followed in this case are:

  • Open the application
  • Click on the + icon at the bottom.
  • Select the option of Register training.
  • Choose the type of activity to perform.
  • When it's time to start training, tap Play.
  • If you want to pause (to rest) click on pause.
  • At the end of the training click on Finish.

Control the evolution of your weight

One of the first actions to take when we sign up for Google Fit is to enter the height and weight. Many people will use the application to control their activity and fitness, in addition to their weight. The application allows you to keep track of the weight you have introducing new records whenever we want. Thus, if we have set certain goals to lose weight, it will be possible to see the evolution of this process. In order to enter a new record with the weight, the following must be done:

  • Open Google Fit
  • Press the + button on the main screen.
  • Select Add Weight from the menu that appears.
  • Put the weight, in addition to the day and time in which you have weighed.
  • Click on save.

This allows in a very simple way to have a good record about the weight and the way it evolves. For people who are dieting it can be a good help since they have very simple access to this graph with the evolution.
