Nvidia Shield Tablet K1, relaunch of the gaming tablet

Nvidia tries again, and puts his sights on videogame players again: we already have among us the «New» Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 with quotes, a device with company hardware that wants to make us play anywhere.

Manufacturers such as Nvidia and Intel have tried to conquer the world of processors for mobile devices, but they have not succeeded, for the benefit of other companies such as Qualcomm and MediaTek. That does not mean that they will give up, and the multinational specialized in graphics again give it a try, building a device themselves that carry their hardware.

We are talking about the Nvidia Shield Tablet K1, a tablet that has a trick because it is a small update of the original Shield Tablet. In addition to the small changes that we detail below, Nvidia has combined it with its usual command to play, and with a subscription service that gives us computer video games in the cloud, giving us the possibility to play graphically demanding games leaving the processing to your servers

Technical specifications they remain the same as we could see in the original Shield Tablet: a quad-core Tegra K1 processor (we don't have the new Tegra X1, a real shame), 2GB of RAM, 8-inch Full HD screen … are the ones you have below.

<div data-ad=

 • 8-inch Full HD screen (1920 x 1200)
 • Nvidia Tegra K1 processor of Kepler architecture (2.2GHz)
 • 2GB of RAM
 • 16GB of internal memory with microSD slot
 • 5MP rear camera and 5MP front camera
 • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and GLONASS
 • 221 x 126 x 9.2mm, 356 grams
 • Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with planned update to Marshmallow

Turning to talk about the differences, the first is that we lose the stylus slot: It becomes an accessory that we can buy separately, in which even the own configurations in the system have been removed. We only have a 16GB + microSD option, we stop having 32GB or the 3G / 4G option as we did before. The tablet will also come without a charger, something that has been removed from the box to save costs.

Regarding the operating system, it currently works with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, like the rest of Shield Tablet, but luckily Nvidia already has upgrade plans to Marshmallow. Both this small renovation, and all those that have already been sold, updated to the latest version of Android at the end of the year, very good news.

Luckily, all this means that we will find a much lower price in the price. It costs 199.99 euros (official price) in Spain, and is available on Amazon – although there are no shipping dates yet. The case costs € 30, the remote adds € 60, the stylus can be purchased separately for € 20, and the charger is also as an accessory for € 25.
