I think we all remember that time that Google presented the Google Glasses in the I / O of June 2012 for a price 2500 euros. The intention of this product was to provide a new type of interaction with technology through an augmented reality system. But the play did not go very well, for the exorbitant price and a market moment in which the priorities of the technological world were other, so they ended up stopping selling them in 2015.

After realizing that opening up to the mass market was not a very good idea, they decided to focus on a specific niche, so, in 2017, they took out the Google Glasses Enterprise Edition, with an initial price of 2500 euros but more focused on the scope professional. Now we have the renewal of this product, the Google Glasses Enterprise Edition 2. Let's talk about what this renovation brings.

Main features

The glasses bring a design more attached to what are a classic glasses, with a smaller plastic frame than the first version with a plastic protection around the glasses. The screen that shows the information provided by this product is still superimposed on the left pane, the operation of the previous version has not changed much. All this in a body of 46 grams of weight.

Although the Hardware does not matter so much in this type of product, here we show it:

  • Processor:Qualcomm XR1 Quad-Core at 1.7 GHz of 10 nanometers
  • Screen Projector:640 x 360 resolution
  • Memoirs:3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage
  • Connections:Bluetooth 5.0, dual band Wi-Fi and USB-C 2.0
  • Battery:820 mAh
  • Camera: 8 Mpx
  • Software:Modified version of Android Oreo 8.0
  • Additional features:multi-touch touchpad, speaker, water and dust resistance …

All this is controlled by a touch panel located on the same side as the "screen".

These glasses are designed to work as a complement to a smartphone Android, but they can also work relatively autonomously. They connect to the smartphone through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. All this is powered by Android Oreo 8.0, with a modified version to work with this type of device. The camera has also improved slightly and they are more powerful thanks to this processor which, although more efficient, also provides greater autonomy thanks to the improvement of energy efficiency.

Price and availability

The new version is now available for purchase for a starting price of 999 euros. The problem is that since it is a product focused on the professional field, to buy them it must be or belong to a company, so they will not be accessible to everyone, unless they make purchases through intermediaries or in second-hand markets .
