Apple Inc is offering cybersecurity researchers up to $ 1 million for detecting iPhone failures, in times of growing concern for the governments that enter the mobile devices of dissidents, journalists and human rights defenders.
Unlike other technologies, Apple only offered rewards to guest researchers trying to find phone failures and cloud backups. But now she was willing to disburse the greater amount given by a company to fend off hackers.
At a security conference in Las Vegas, the company said Thursday that it will open the process to all researchers, add software for Mac and other purposes, and offer a variety of rewards for the most significant findings.
The prize of one million dollars will be applied only to a remote access to the iPhone core without any action from the telephone user. Apple's highest previous reward was $ 200,000 for friendly bug reports which can then be solved with software updates so that they are not exposed to criminals or espas.
Apple is taking other measures to facilitate research, such as offering a modified phone that has some security measures disabled.
