Apple block iPhone batteries that have been installed by third parties | Technology and science | Mobile

Bad news for some users of iPhone They arrived this week after the iFixit firm – dedicated to the repair of devices – reported that Apple has begun to activate a software lock that was "asleep" on the phones that change the battery outside one of its authorized establishments.

Apparently the blockage occurs when the phone's battery is changed outside the company's official technical services, even if it is exchanged for another original signature battery. At the moment, iFixit has detailed that the problem has been found in the models iPhone XR, iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max with the latest versions of the operating system.

A site specializing in Apple products explained that software blocking was reported on its website, specifically in the help documents, after the update in March this year. Also When users request assistance through this platform, they are sent directly to the company's battery replacement program.

The lock can be seen in the phone configuration that does not allow access to the battery information and instead shows the message "service", which has been interpreted as a signal to take the device directly to the nearest Apple store or to the Authorized distributor in the area.

This comes after the scandal of batteries that Apple had to face last year after it was revealed that their phones were scheduled to lower working capacity after a time when the batteries ceased to be as efficient as at the beginning.

Although this has not yet been confirmed by the company, since iFixit They are conducting tests to understand how this lock operates on the devices.
