Apple is preparing its own Street View

A Volkswagen electric van for Apple?

apple maps car

Do you remember the previous image? This car was seen on some roads during the past year and we knew it was owned by Apple. From the moment we saw it, it was not necessary to be a lynx to know that the Cupertino were preparing their own system that would compete with Street view from Google Maps. But at that time we could only formulate our hypotheses and now Apple has already confirmed what was an open secret.

As we can read on their website, "Apple is driving cars around the world to collect data that can be used to improve Apple Maps. Some of this data will be published in future Apple Maps updates. We are committed to protecting your privacy while collecting this data. For example, we will put faces and blurry license plates in the images before publishing them".

Apple will have its own Street View

Although the most logical and simple thing was to think that these cars were to create their own Street View, there were people who thought they could be related to what is now known as Project Titan and that tries to create an Apple car. This was in February 2015, now almost 12 months ago, so it has been a long time since the nearby circle of the company headed by Tim Cook is already giving clues in one way or another that they will create an autonomous car and / or electric

When the time comes to see the results, it is clear that there will be a debate about who copies what, but in this case there will not be much debate. It was Google the pioneer company in showing us images of the streets of practically the whole world and now it remains to be seen if Apple is able to offer something else or, at least, offer a service that we can trust without worries.
