One of the things that worries us most when we travel to other countries is the possibility of connecting to the Internet via WiFi, and that is that each airport has its own public networks and lounges or private where connections are made, but they are not always free or offer easy access to passwords. With WiFox, this problem ends thanks to the collaboration of the users and the ambitious project of Anil Polat.
All the world
WiFox is a project to take to the iPhone Foxnoad, which is the origin of everything. This platform is a collaborative database in which users from all over the world send the passwords of the WiFi networks of all airports, which are processed by Anil. Among the passwords we can find the networks of the VIP areas, which makes it very interesting to use it when we do not have access to data or roaming is triggered.
Polat says the FoxnoMad project currently exceeds 33% coverage Worldwide speaking of airports, a figure that is improved daily thanks to the collaboration of users. Obviously, the big airports are the ones with the most available networks, but the coverage is impressive enough to be something collaborative at the end of the day.
Talking about the app
WiFox is a simple app, with a clearly improved design in which the details are not careful, but that on the other hand will give us in a very short time what we are looking for: access to a network. It presents a map of the world with the airports covered, while with the lateral list we can access the different networks being able to search and filter to taste. It is important to note that WiFox allows us to collaborate from the app itself, something we must do every time we have access to a WiFi in an airport to maintain the collective idea of it.
To improve there are many things, from design (throughout the app) to the possibility of putting networks or airports as favorites, but in the absence of a better alternative, of course, we can manage what we have. And although it is true that the cost of the app does not go according to its beauty, of course that the first closed network that allows us to connect we will have already profited the two euritos that we have to release for it.
