Bored screen and a design that clearly reminds the Mate series

Huawei Nova 5i Pro

That back box for the four cameras is undoubtedly one of the identity seas of the last Huawei Mate. And seeing the design of the new Huawei Nova 5i Pro seems to expand through its catalog. The design of the Nova 5i Pro is made of glass, with a rough touch and the four cameras as the main element. On this occasion we do not opt for an integrated fingerprint reader, but a physical reader in the back that breaks the minimalism of the device a little but offers, in all likelihood, a more stable experience.

The chosen screen is a panel 6.26 inch LCD LTPS with FullHD + resolution and a small hole in the upper left corner where the front camera is located. It is a different design than Huawei has in its P30, where we had a 'notch' in the form of a drop of water, but s is equal to the design of the Nova 4 that we met at the beginning of the year.

Kirin 810 and up to 8GB of RAM

Duck nova

Inside the Huawei Nova 5i Pro the new Huawei processor is introduced that will expand through its mid-range during the second half of 2019. We talk about the new Kirin 810, a chipset manufactured in 7 nanometers that promises a great capacity in artificial intelligence and comes accompanied by the six-core Mali G52 GPU.

For RAM we have two versions, a base model with 6GB and another more advanced with 8GB. Regarding storage, we start from 128GB but there is also a 256GB version. As in other models, the Nova 5i Pro s has a memory card slot, but it is not microSD, but its own NMCard technology.

Through the USB Type-C port we can quickly charge the phone as it supports fast charge up to 20W. Even as the autonomous should be generous since we have 4,000 mAh. Android 9 Pie and EMUI 9.1 are the systems that we will find in the software. While at the connectivity level we will have Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm jack and WiFi ac, but not NFC.

The four cameras are extended by the Huawei catalog

Nova 5i Pro Camera

For the photographic section we have a configuration of four cameras in an arrangement similar to that of the Mate 20 Pro, although with a lower technical quality as is logical considering its price. The main sensor is a sensor 48 megapixels with a f / 1.8 aperture lens. Secondly, the wide angle is chosen with an 8 megapixel sensor. Finally we have two extra sensors of two megapixels each for depth and macro effects.

In addition to the technical characteristics, Huawei emphasizes the importance of its artificial intelligence for the realization of portrait mode and especially night mode. For the front camera you opt for a 32 megapixel sensor with an f / 2.0 aperture, although without flashLED since it is integrated under the screen.

Versions and price of the Huawei Nova 5i Pro

Nova 5i Pro Huawei colors

The new Huawei Nova 5i Pro is available in China at black, green and blue color. Depending on the amount of RAM and storage we will have a price or another. The version with 6GB and 128GB arrives for 2,199 yuan, about 287 euros to change. The version with 8 / 128GB for 2,499 yuan and the 8GB and 256GB for 2,799 yuan, about 365 euros.

To get an idea, the 8GB and 128GB version has a cost equivalent to the Redmi K20 in China. Therefore, this futuristic Huawei Mate 30 Lite will be a competitor for the Xiaomi Mi 9T. We will have to see if his arrival is finally confirmed and at what price it lands in our country. What seems certain is that the most powerful mid-range continues to grow and leaves less and less room to stand out with higher-end phones.
