Well, it seems a lie, but Apple has just updated iOS 9 and iOS 10. No, I was not wrong to write: we have updates of iOS 9 and iOS 10 in addition to the updates of iOS 12.4, tvOS 12.4, macOS 10.14.6 and watchOS 5.3 that appeared this afternoon. It was almost three and two years respectively that the last update of these systems had been launched (October 2016 and October 2017 respectively).
The specific versions are iOS 9.3.6 and iOS 10.3.4, and aim to solve a GPS related error that had been recently reported. It is also reported that there are a number of stability and security errors fixed for all those who use older iOS devices that can no longer run iOS 11, 12 or the iOS 13 beta.
Take that old iPad out of the drawer and update it
iOS 9.3.6 can be updated in the iPad 2 and 3, the first iPad mini and iPhone 4s. iOS 10.3.4 can be updated in the 4th generation iPad and iPhone 5. If you have older devices, updates cannot be applied, although you are most likely using more modern devices that are running iOS 12.
As a small reflection, it is not bad that Apple continues to support iOS 9 and therefore devices like the iPhone 4s that they were launched in the market about eight years ago.
